Literature Text

Footsteps in the Snow

I found your footsteps in the snow
and followed close behind you
They led me to a winter wood;
I called, but could not find you

Where are you now? I've come so far
Your image fades away
The words are burning within me
The words I came to say

Open, eyes
awake, sunrise
and flood into the sea
Let me see you smiling once
and reaching back to me

Don't leave until you hear me out
I need for you to know
The words I've treasured all these years
To share before you go

Your world is burning, edge to edge
How can I stop a storm?
Your footprints fade like empty dreams
that flee before the morn

Don't turn away until I speak
or give up til you know
The song I brought to strengthen you
To sing before I go

Open, eyes
awake, sunrise
and flood into the sea
Let me see you smiling once
and reaching back to me.

-Naomi B.
I love this poem even now that I'm no longer into the fandom that inspired it. It's mine now. All mine.

Beautiful job. It really flowed, and had a very haunting lilt to it. I'd really like to hear it put to music.
