HMC: Several Miles of Suit by CaliforniaClipper HMC: Several Miles of Suit by CaliforniaClipper
Finished! See the thumbnail sketch here.

Howl and Sophie borrowed from the novel Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones. (Yes, I've seen the movie too. Have it. ;))

oC 1.1 for thumbnail sketch, oC 4.5.19+ for full fledged drawing, PS4 for transparency around the edges. You can still see the initial frame I scribbled round the thumbnail sketch. :XD: I decided to leave the edges loose and open. This is a fun drawing. :aww:

The whole book is like one long suppressed laugh, except the parts where it bursts out. Which is strange, considering that Howl-as-he-wants-to-be-known (had he been real) would have been quite sinister... more on this excellent blog: elcrain.wordpress.com/author/e…

Always glad to meet another fan of the book. =)

I read the book twice a few years ago, and then recently read it again out loud to my semi-blind 83-84 year old grandma. She LOVES Howl and Sophie. We recently finished Castle in the Air, and have had to wait on the third one because I've been sick and can't read out loud. XD
But next week we'll probably be able to start it.

And I agree about Howl having the possibility of being really sinister.

I think that's part of the appeal of the book. So often you meet people who pretend to be wonderful, and then they turn out to be, well, not. Howl pretends to be this terrible monster, and it turns out he both has a heart of gold (albeit on loan) and is terribly dangerous -- to bad guys. (Or girls. I think most of the people he had to kill were female or at least masquerading as such.)

I wonder if there's an audio book for the House of Many Ways? Ah yes, there is: www.amazon.com/House-of-Many-W…

Pricey, but you might be able to get it at a library, or digitally from your library's Overdrive. I just recently started using audiobooks and I love the fact that my sister and I can listen at the same time (instead of waiting for the never-happening of us both having time to sit down and read the same book within the relatively short amount of time required for us to remember enough of it to discuss...) and pause whenever to dissect a scene.

Also, there's considerably less risk involved around the bathtub, if you can keep yourself from handling the phone/mobile device over the water. =D

I love this scene in the novel and your ilustration could be in the book :) I adore Howl in the movie but I like fanarts which Howl isn't anime-style and has green eyes :)

Thanks! :aww: The movie is nice too but they really are different stories. I tend to think the novel is funnier. =D

So do I. There are lot of funny moments in the book, e.g. drunk Howl or all arguments between Howl and Sophie. That's why I like the novel more than the movie :)

Thank you! :aww: It cracks me up every time. Makes me wonder if Howl didn't crack up a little too, and right before a funeral.
